There’s an ideology held within select dance communities that questions the validity – and in essence the definition – of an edit. Thus, when Soul Clap’s then-ubiquitous rerub of Stevie Wonder’s Love Light In Flight emerged in 2009, followed by 2010′s infamous R&B Edits EP, the duo became instantly divisive within the electronic underground. Fast-forward to 2012 and following a plethora of split EPs on New York’s seminal Wolf + Lamb imprint, an acclaimed addition to the DJ-Kicks series and hosting their iniquitous Midweek Techno parties in Cambridge – Soul Clap are now recognised as one of contemporary house’s most luminary outfits.

Farside Records: The Story So Far

Farside Records is a long standing deep and soulful house imprint based near Dortmund, Germany, and run by it’s devoted founder Ingo Sänger, who has been at the helm since it’s birth as a compilation label back in 2000. After morphing his compilation imprint into an artist vinyl label in 2006, Farside has released a host of meaningful house records, for the most part made by talented friends like Herb LF, Matt Flores and Henry L, along with Ingo’s own work. Rarely a man for the spotlight though, Ingo has let the label’s amazing music take it forward to the place it sits now as one of Germany’s most respected outlets for deep house. We caught up with Ingo to find out more about Farside and it’s story so far.

Franz Underwear; Slow Motion Down Under

Franz Underwear makes his way to Australia next month, spreading the Slow Motion message which has already permeated throughout Berlin, landing his collective a host of regular parties and himself a spot on the Sweat Lodge Agency roster. Sharing his time between weekly residency’s in Italy and monthly label nights at clubs like Kater Holzig and Kleine Reise in Berlin, Franz Underwear has been pushing the Italo Disco sound of his hometown at parties the world over. We caught up with Franz ahead of his trip to our shores next month to find out more..

In Town: Space Dimension Controller

In Town: Hunee

With his first ever gig in Australia penned for this Friday at our humbled Mercat Basement in Melbourne, thanks to Animals Dancing, Hunee, Berlin’s favoured disco DJ come raw house producer is currently making the long journey to our city. Despite a nervous moment having his flight delayed a couple of days thanks to Berlin’s intense snow, he will now be touching down here tomorrow with in records and beach attire in tow.

Achterbahn D’Amour presents a nod to the wonders of the 303 and it’s early roots, thanks to two friends whose love for finding acid house jams has spawned into a fully fledged alliance already with three fantastic releases under their belts.
